Based on the industry's most flexible and cost effective architecture, the 10 Gigabit Ethernet modules support all of Foundry's award winning IronWare switching and routing capabilities. These include wire-speed Layer 2 switching, IP and IPX-based Layer 3 routing, Access Control Lists (ACLs) and Extended ACLs, traffic classification, prioritization, and marking, as well as support for Jumbo Frames.??Foundry 10 Gigabit Ethernet modules consist of two components - the 10 Gigabit Ethernet base module plus the standard 802.3ae Physical Media Dependent (PMD) optic - ordered together as one part number. Combined together, they occupy one slot in a NetIron, BigIron, or FastIron chassis and provide a single port of 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. There is no limitation in the number of 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces supported in a Foundry chassis, which results in up to 14 ports of 10 Gigabit Ethernet available for use in a 15-slot chassis.
