This 4-port Gb Ethernet Switch Module is a high-speed Ethernet switch option for the IBM eServer BladeCenter. The IBM eServer BladeCenter contains four network switch module bays. Ethernet connections are supported by installing one or two BladeCenter 4-port Gb Ethernet Switch Modules in module bays one and two of the BladeCenter. This four-port Ethernet switch option provides high-speed Ethernet connections between IBM BladeCenter HS20 blades, the standard management module and the outside network environment. Each of the four external ports supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connections. Up to 14 blades can be attached to a single switch module through one of the two standard Ethernet controllers on each blade.
