The low-cost, entry-level PacketStar AX 50 Broadband Service Unit provides multiservices access onto a public or private ATM network. Enabling consolidation onto a single ATM network infrastructure, the unit dramatically reduces equipment, operations, and local access costs. It gives enterprises an inexpensive access solution for remote sites with entry onto an ATM network at speeds up to T1/E1. The AX 50 unit can easily be upgraded to the more powerful AX 100 unit by inserting a new WAN access module (XPOD) and upgrading the unit's software, allowing WAN uplinks at higher speeds, ranging from NxT1 / E1 IMA, DS3/E3 and OC-3/STM-1. ??Analog voice compression is included.
