Scalability is an essential feature of modern LAN switches, allowing performance and a high aggregate bandwidth to be maintained as the size of the network increases. Olicom's CrossFire Ethernet and Token-Ring switches are "stackable" allowing them to be quickly and cost-effectively linked, increasing backplane capacity and dynamically eliminating network bottlenecks. The CrossFire switches support a variety of stacking options. Installing an OC-8630 Stacker Link - a one-port stacking module - in two CrossFire Token-Ring (OC-8600) switches allows a simple, back-to-back configuration that doubles the number of available switch ports. Up to five CrossFire Token-Ring switches (OC-8600) can be stacked to create a switched entity of up to 140 switched Token-Ring ports.
